Eden Project
The Eden Project promotes the understanding of the vital relationship between plants and people; it is an educational charity. It works to educate both visitors to the Eden Project in Cornwall (which is well worth a visit, absolutely amazing), the charity also works with local organisations around the world to protect vital rainforest habitats. An example is in Thailand, where the Eden Project works with FORRU on reforestation proejcts. Over 65,000 trees have been planted, and community trianing and learning seeks to help build up local knowledge on how to protect rainforests and preserve natural resources. Gift memberships help support this vital work. Members receive unlimited free access to the Eden Project for a year - and what's really nice about this membership is that they can bring a friend with them every time they visit. Members also receive the quarterly Eden Friends magazine plus regular e-newsletters to help keep them up to date with the Eden Project's work. There are two gift memberships, one for adults, the other for seniors, from £27.50 You could also look at their wonderful online shop, the profits of which go to supporting such work. |

If you think of the natural world as a big garden, then this could be a gift with a difference for anyone who loves gardens, wildlife, flowers & the outdoors. It's mission is "to act to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take into account human needs." I've given my sister's partner membership as a gift, and he was very impressed with the work they do. They run 100 projects in 40 countries - mostly in the developing world; and you can find out more about them here and give a gift membership here (their Supporter Member is £35 a year or £3 a month by direct debit.)
