Inside the National Trust - Watch it on ITV(October 06, 2013)
There's a new series on the ITV called Inside the National Trust. It has been created to give an insight into the work of the National Trust, covering Britain’s most treasured landscapes and buildings.
Each programme lasts 60 minutes and there are 20 programmes in the series. They show just what it takes to ensure that Britian's beautiful heritage survives, and we meet the people behind the scenes who safeguard it for us.
Michael Buerk meetes key characters across six types of location, from remote islands to grand manor houses. And he tries his hand at what it takes to look after Britain's heritage, from cleaning a priceless chandelier to learning the ancient art of hedgelaying. He photo-stalks deer and risks the wrath of puffins as he puts his hand down burrows for a count.
There's a wide variety of people who help care for British landscapes. A Cambridge Engish professor volunteers to care for goats at the Trust's Cambridgeshire farm for rare breeds.
There's a former gardener in Northumberland who is a walking encyclopaedia on one of Britain's greatest VIctorian houses. And there's a bird-mad warden who takes on the challenges of remote island life as he protects one of Britain's most important sanctuaries.
The programme is on ITV every Sunday - click here for more details from the National Trust and click here to go to ITV.
