So I thought it would be an opportunity to raise awareness of a couple of sheep societies and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, too. They all run memberships, and it's a great way to support their work to raise awareness of sheep breeds and discover more about this woolly animals.
|The Hebridean Sheep Society exists to promote the virtues of the Hebridean sheep. It works to promote the conservation and preservation of Hebridean sheep as a distinctive, viable breed, and to educate and inform the public of the virtues of the Hebridean sheep. |The Shetland Sheep Society has almost 500 members around the UK and further afield. Their members are passionate about the breed and you don't have to own sheep to join. The society aims to support the breed. You'll find membership benefits here and you can join here.|
|The Rare Breeds Survival Trust works to monitor, save and promote rare and native farm breeds. There's a list of rare breeds here for equines, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry. Members help support the Trust undertake its work and save these breeds. There are also groups of volunteers around the UK. Find out more here|
